Mehi are students of the Riga Technical university's faculty of Transport and Mechanical Engineering (RTU TMF). This webpage is maintained entirely by students and belongs to the faculty's student self-government (TMF SP).

This website was opened in 2008, therefore you will not find much information about our previous activities before 2008.

What do we do?

TMF student self-government is a volunteer student organization. We represent our faculty's students, organize projects and activities, work together with university staff to improve education and collaboration with private companies and much more. TMF SP combines non-formal education methods and activities with responsibilities of a university's structural unit. We work on both recreational and more advanced activities. For example, TMF SP organizes parties, competitions, sports events as well as forums with industry representatives, polling, environmental activities and protection of students interests against the university's authorities.

On the international level we are gradually expanding our presence and making new connections with similar organizations around the world. In 2006 we organized and hosted our first mayor international project known as "The Swedish project" where we invited 10 students from Chalmers university of technology for a week long exchange. We are building connections with similar organizations both abroad (Sweden, Lithuania, ...) and in Latvia. We all speak English, Russian and Latvian.

We are open for fresh ideas and collaboration offers from students, youth organizations, companies and others for fun and business! Get in touch!

Why the website is in Latvian language?

Our primary language and the tuition language here is Latvian. In addition we do have a lot of students whose native language is Russian, still we all study in Latvian. Unfortunately, we have very few students on campus who study in English, which in fact, makes every such student really special and the stay in Latvia is definitely different from what you can expect from studies abroad in western Europe .

When there will be big enough reader interest in updates in English, we will consider adding a proper English version of the website.
